.Social Workshop.

Just imagine a room full of bridal gowns, fresh blooms, yummy treats, and hand written lovelies... This is the exact setting of our first workshop. I must say that when I first thought of this idea to plan a workshop I never imagined that it would have turned out SO wonderful! All of my expectations were met and exceeded and that is due to the wonderful group of girls who attended and all of the hard workers who helped make it possible. 

Rachel Kathryn Designs taught beginning calligraphy & provided all of the necessary tools to do so, Prescott Bridal let us hang out in their boutique, Okie Cookies Catering provided delicious bites, Poetry and Prose Photography captured all of the precious moments, and blo. donated gift cards for door prizes. 

The goal was to make everyone feel welcome, loved, and important. Which I hope everyone felt just that and took some great skills back with them. Practice makes perfect, ladies. Keep up the hard work and I know you will be a master calligraphist in no time. Rachel, the owner of Rachel Kathryn Designs spent some quality time teaching hands on skills for those who are wanting to learn how to work with a nib and the basics of calligraphy. After about an hour we thought it would be nice to give everyone a break, chat, fill up their wine, and chill for a few moments. After all we did say this was a social workshop.

My goal as the floral instructor was to let everyone know they can create one of a kind centerpieces at home and on a budget. After all everyone loves & deserves fresh blooms in their house whether it be a special occasion, a down day, or just BECAUSE.

I taught basic tips for sourcing, care & handling, containers, and supplies. All of my blooms were purchased locally at a farm in Oklahoma and you can purchase her blooms at Whole Foods here in OKC. Just a little secret I purchase a lot of my containers at Thrift Stores and West Elm is my weakness. 

Don't worry we listened to everyone and the next workshop will be more focused on floral design as we spent just a little time on this subject. We will also make sure everyone goes home with their own creation {YAY}.

Wildest Dreams

This bridal shoot is full of elegance and romance. Spain Ranch is one dreamy location and when you mix that with the flowy & elegant bridal gown, fresh blooms, hair & makeup, and have it all captured by a talented photographer it is just all perfection.

This two piece Willow by Watter gown is mixed with elements of boho and romance. I sure fell in love! The skirt was super awesome in the fact that you could create different pick ups in the skirt. This created texture and shortened the train making it easier for her to dance around. 

There's something innocent about barefeet. You feel so connected and grounded. 

Did I mention that we had some furry models while on site? When you visit Spain Ranch not only are you greeted with sweet staff, but also Scottish Highland Cattle and Bison.

swoon worthy venues

Say yes to the perfect venue.

Maybe you are recently engaged or deciding to start the planning process and you aren't sure where to start for venues. The venue is huge. It is where you will say your vows and tell your love story so you want to make sure the aesthetic is swoon worthy. Whether you want something casual and low key or a formal affair I want to give you my top venues. 

First, let me tell you a perk to having a wedding planner. 

When you hire a coordinator they will help you with picking our and finding the venue. As a planner I want to make sure I help my brides and grooms find a venue they will fall in love with and want to have their wedding celebration at. Picking a venue is something you should do at least 9 to 12 months in advance depending on the time of your wedding and the demand of the venue. 

Oklahoma is truly blooming with new and innovative venue spaces + we have some great historic landmark locations that would be perfect to say I do. There is so many venues in Oklahoma to choose from, but I want to tell you my personal favorites. 

1. The Rooftop at Plenty Mercantile

So not only should you check out Plenty Mercantile for their shopping, but also for their venue space. This eclectic and one of a kind rooftop & warehouse is perfect for the couple who is down to have a good time while having a killer view. Don't worry they have a backup option if the crazy Oklahoma weather acts up (fingers crossed it doesn't though). The rooftop has great scenery and decorates itself + they have one of a kind furniture you can rent to complete your laid back + stylish look.

2. Spain Ranch

Fresh + clean + romantic are all words that I think of when describing Spain Ranch. When you visit Spain Ranch be prepared to fall in love. The barn is all white and clean lines. They have a space for you to have your ceremony inside or out and a reception inside or out as well. It is great for options so you can decide based off your style and the weather if necessary. While on the ranch you will see some furry creatures and may even want to take one..or two home with you.

3. Ed Lycan Conservatory

Clean lines, cactuses, and nature. What more could you ask for? Oh wait! The venue is full of history as well. There is a rotating botanical exhibits so you are guaranteed fresh scenery when you visit and for you big day. This space could be used for an engagement party, rehearsal dinner space, ceremony, or reception OR all of the above. The venue is easy on the eyes and a photographer's dream for the lighting of the space. 

4. McGranahan Barn

Laid back & rustic yet elegant is how I would describe this barn venue. The barn is an exact replica from the original that was built on the land decades ago by James and Sarah McGranahan. The venue owner's now are carrying on the family heritage the right way and are the sweetest people btw. The venue has options for an indoor or outdoor ceremony and reception along with several areas for candid photos. The venue also has a list of preferred vendors to help make the day easier + some decor rental options {umm... yes please}.

Please also include a photo of you and your sweetheart, your story, and a fun fact about each of you.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Any couple who is not getting married in Oklahoma is eligible.  New clients only.  International weddings are more than welcome!

HOW DO WE WIN?
Tell us your story (or nominate someone who deserves this).  Honestly, it will likely come down to the people who we feel we connect with the most.  People who do not win free wedding coverage will receive a discount on wedding photography from Rachel Photographs just for entering the giveaway.

RULES:

• One submission per couple, and couples do not necessarily need to be engaged yet.
• Wedding must take place between March 2016- July 2017 on a date that is not already booked.
• The winning couple’s wedding may not take place in Oklahoma.
• Travel fees are not included in the contest and may include, but are not limited to transportation, housing, per diem, food costs, and any other traveling expenses.
• A second photographer is not included, but can be added on.
• Winning couple must sign a contract with Rachel Photographs and Forever Cole Events and must meet either in person or via skype to discuss all the details.
• Winner will be announced March 1, 2016.
• Any discounts that are redeemed must be on a date where Rachel Photographs is not already booked.  A meeting and contract is due before any booking.

Forever Cole Events goes to the Mountains || Styled Engagement Shoot

Forever Cole Events travels to Colorado. I have a love for mountains, crisp air, and styled shoots.  I am happy to share a few of my favorites, some outtakes, and special moments from the shoot. Psst did I mention that this Vintage & Woodsy Engagement Shoot was featured recently on Inspired by This?? Well have a little peak for yourself {Click here}.

Colorado is my second home and it will always have a piece of my heart. A little back story on why I feel this way… I did two different internships while I was in college and they took place in Denver, Colorado. While interning I was given the opportunity to plan and execute events, fashion shows, company events, styling photo shoots, and also styling live events. So now back to the wonderful styled engagement shoot shot in Morrison, Colorado.

I feel in my true element when I am styling and I also have a special place in my heart for Colorado so it was a dream come true to get to style this shoot with Tayler Carlisle Photography. I love Instagram and all it’s wonderful talents of connecting me with her. I reached out to her via Instagram and we connected right away. She has such great style and such a delight to work with. Tayler also hooked us up with the models. Don’t worry the models are a real life couple young & in love. Thank you Sonia & Chris. I am happy our paths crossed and we were able to capture such fun moments.

I knew I wanted to create a tent like scene in the mountains so once I shared my vision and style with Tayler she suggested Lair O’ The Bear National Park. It was great. The lace tent, vintage suitcases, fresh sunflowers, and navajo inspired blankets created a cozy little breakfast picnic. Fresh coffee & dougnuts from the legendary Voodoo Doughnuts shop in Denver. The couple sipped on coffee, ate doughnuts, and shared some sweet moments together. 

The weather was great and the rain held off right up until the very end. I loved shooting at Lair O' the Bear National Park was supreme for my creative self as we could walk to different areas and capture different moments. Some areas we could really utilize all of the Forever Cole Events props including items from West Elm and Urban Outfitters and then some areas just needed the lovebirds. Although this was a styled shoot and the couple is not engaged..yet :) they were wonderful and their love was contagious!

The Nichols Ever After | 8.21.15

Let me just say Mr. and Mrs. Nichols were so relaxed and you could feel the love the day of their ceremony. 

When I first met Tiana she had a clear vision as to what she wanted, but needed a little help executing the styling and making sure she enjoyed her BIG day. Forever Cole Events did just that and I will also add that she has great taste. Who doesn't want to get married at a vineyard? Exactly! It was wonderful. The food, drinks, dancing, and most importantly the nuptials. Aaron and  Tiana are two lovebirds I am happy to have met. 

This is pampering at it's finest. The bride had her bridal party, flower girl, and cutest pup with her while she got ready at her house nearby. 

PS- Don't you just love the floral robes they are decked out in?

Tiana mentioned to me that she didn't want to see her groom before she walked down the aisle, but would love to say a prayer. My heart melted and I am pretty sure I had goosebumps. This is so special. Their faith is so strong and I know that their wedding and marriage is blessed. 

And they lived happily ever after

The Summer of Color Event with Kendra Scott

I had to pleasure of helping plan the relaunch of the Color Bar at Kendra Scott in Classen Curve. 

The event was hosted by Jen Kubes who is a local fashion blogger and stylist in Oklahoma City. Mrs. Kubes has a love for playing with different textures, patterns, and bright colors and can make anyone feel like they are prepared to walk down a fashion runway. It was a no brainer to have  her come in and help the shoppers and participants of the event.

The event was full of style and flair which included fresh blooms by Poppy Lane Design. I might add that there was a flower crown involved for Jen. Flower crowns are my favorite accessory and I think I could totally rock wearing one on the daily reg.

Now a get together isn't complete without something to sip or nimble on. Gingersnaps brought custom designed cookies for the occasion. I don't know about you, but I know that when I make cookies they are just a big blob so to get any shape is a plus. Gingersnaps is a true talent both with design and taste! 

Fresh flowers by the ever so talented and fun Poppy Lane Designs. Fresh flowers bring life, warmth, and smiles to any room so why not have them at a fashion event?! Thank you once again Poppy Lane Designs for doing wonders! 

Organic Squeeze brought a rainbow assortment of fresh squeezed juice for everyone to enjoy. These are both local shops that if you haven't checked out you should. I think I frequent Organic Squeeze weekly. Not only is it healthy, but it's yummy and the staff is always so inviting. 

I had such a blast planning this event with Jen and the Kendra Scott team. It was a delight and super fun. This blog wouldn't have been as glamorous if it wasn't for Taylor O'Neal Photography who captured the event and all the special moments that took place. A few of those moments would be giving away different pieces of jewelry from Kendra Scott thanks to them and Jen. Barre3 in Classen Curve even gave away FREE classes! How awesome is that?! Forever Cole Events had such a fun time planning this event and coordinating with the vendors to make this a night of fun, shopping, and styling by the ever so talented Jen Kubes.

Sunset Picnic & Dancin'

Styling is where I am myself and when I had the opportunity to style this shoot I was so excited. My opportunity I mean I had this idea and my sweet cousin & best friend, Rachel Cleere Photography helped make this happen. I also had to have a good looking couple who was willing to let me use them as models and my dear friends Chris and Taylor did just that. They were naturals & they made it a blast. Their love and fun personalities shows. 

Having your picture taken is not always easy for some and I think I can help make the experience more enjoyable and fun. I planned a sunset picnic under a willow tree and these two did the rest. The bubbly may have helped a little bit, but I truly think it was their love for one another. The candid photos Rachel captured are perfect and I am excited to share these with everyone. 

I used Ruby's Vintage Rental for this vintage table & couch you see pictured throughout this post. Check them out. They have some fabulous pieces of furniture + the owners are so wonderful. 

Taylor & Chris are just so dang cute and I don't think any of us stopped laughing throughout this session. Just take a look for yourself and see how adorable they are! This is love!
